
Joost Holthuis received his PhD in 1985 from the University of Utrecht after which be became assistant professor. In 1988 he became head of the analytical laboratory and product development at Chiron BV. In 1995 he founded OctoPlus which he managed as CEO, including the raising of three rounds of funding of in total almost € 21 million before an IPO on NYSE Euronext in Amsterdam. He managed the growth of the service business to over € 15 million in 2008 and closed several licensing deals valued at over € 100 million. Joost left OctoPlus NV in 2009 to start Sodoro BV.

Professor Dr. Dirk W. Grijpma received his PhD in 1993 from the University of Groningen. His thesis focused on the development of tough biodegradable polymers for use in maxillo-facial fracture fixation devices. After working as a research group leader in industry, he became an associate professor of polymer chemistry and biomaterials at the University of Twente in 2003 and professor of Biomaterials Science and Technology in 2010. In 2005, he became a part-time professor at the University Medical Center at the University of Groningen. His current research areas include structure-property relationships in polymers, polymers for medical applications, tissue engineering and the development of new polymeric delivery systems. He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications including 12 patents and patent applications.

Alexander has 20 years of leadership experience in the pharma and biotech industry. Following his graduate studies of pharmacy and pharmacology in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and at the Mayo Clinic in the United States, he obtained an MBA from Stanford University in the United States (1989). After completing his studies, Alexander spent five years as a strategy consultant working for the international pharmaceutical practice of McKinsey & Co. He subsequently worked at Genzyme Therapeutics Europe, holding several executive positions such as European Marketing Director and Director of Business Development, before assuming global responsibility for the joint venture between Genzyme Corporation and Pharming NV, which pursued the goal of developing an innovative therapy for a genetic muscular disease. From 2000 to 2004, Alexander served as Chief Executive Officer of MediService AG (Switzerland), one of the leading specialty pharmacy service companies in Europe, which was successfully sold to Galenica AG. Before joining PharmaCell, he worked for PAION AG, where he was a Member of the Management Board and Chief Operating Officer. PAION is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company based in Aachen (Germany) and Cambridge (UK) and is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Emmanuelle joined Crédit Agricole Private Equity's Venture Capital team in April 2007. She holds a degree in agronomic engineering from the ENSAR in Rennes, a PhD in Microbiology from Paris VII University and a specialized postgraduate degree in pharmaceutical management from the Paris ESCP-EAP Business School. From 2003 to 2006, at Pasteur Institute, Emmanuelle managed a fundamental research project on the immunosuppressive properties of a bacterial toxin. Her work led to several international scientific publications. In Crédit Agricole Private Equity, she has been actively involved in several investments. She currently serves as board member of Arcarios and as observer on the boards of FlexGen and ERA Biotech.
